The Small Enterprise Promotion Agency became operational on the 1st of August 2004 and is responsible for the implementation of policies and strategies pertaining to crafts and cottage industries, guiding the development and maintenance of relevant infrastructure and providing training and assistance in business matters, including product development to small enterprises.
SEnPA’s broad objective is to promote small enterprises and the development of craft and cottage industries. Through its small dedicated team, the agency works with the mission of not only improving the business environment for the entrepreneurs and small enterprises but to also develop their marketing potential, enhance their research and develop techniques and to increase innovation.
SEnPA also enables small businesses to build competencies and capacities to internationally acceptable levels of competitiveness. It also plays a major role in promoting the use of local woods in the fabrication of woodcrafts, furniture and artifacts.
SEnPA’s core activities include:-- Providing training courses at all levels in entrepreneurship skills, in management of quality and standard, in technical and information technology.
- Organising sectorial and monthly trade fairs
- Providing information on various facilities and support offered to small enterprises
- Providing internet facilities to entrepreneurs
- Organizing exhibitions in woodcrafts
- Providing professional advice to potential and existing small enterprises, crafts and cottage industries
- Assisting small enterprises, crafts and cottage industries with queries regarding the setting up of small businesses as well as guiding them through the process
- Analysing Seychelles’ small businesses and discussing potential ways of improving them
- Managing a database of small businesses, crafts and cottage industries
