Domestic power generation are met entirely from imported petroleum and there is an increasing need to look into other sources of energy. The use of renewable energy is very marginal and is limited to the use of solar power.

 

 There is also considerable interest in Oil exploration within our EEZ and prospecting acreage stands at 21,426 km² and an additional 205,000 km² is still available for prospecting.
