Policies & Legislation

Government policy for tourism development will continue to encourage the attainment of the highest standards in the industry and the distribution of the benefits of the industry for the optimum social and economic benefit of the people of Seychelles. However, this emphasis will in no way be allowed to compromise the country’s natural environment and biodiversity and its international reputation as an environmental leader. The policy will reflect the dependence of a successful tourism industry upon a clean, protected environment and happy, prosperous society.
 
To foster the growth and quality of Seychelles’ tourism industry the government has introduced the Tourism Incentives Act (TIA), which provides support and incentives to many different tourism related activities. Under the TIA, businesses in the tourism industry can be granted a range of incentives including trades tax and G.S.T concessions on specified imports. They are also entitled to business tax and turnover tax concessions and concessions on fuel.
 
In addition, the following policies are in place to guide the establishment of  specific activities undertaken in the tourism industry:
